1953 Austin Healey BN1 Barn Find

Ever dreamt of discovering a long-forgotten historic car that has been kept indoors but hasn’t been on the road for decades, getting it running, and doing a sympathetic preservation or full restoration?  Well, if you’re a gearhead, petrolhead, shade tree mechanic, automotive guy or gal, or dreamer YOU HAVE.

But, then the dream fizzles because you know you’ll never fall into such a barn find; or because you don’t know whether you’re able to tell the difference between a wreck and a hidden gem; or because your mechanical skills might not be up to the task.

So, what are you looking at?  A VERY early (body number 153), first-year (probably built in August or September 1953) BN1 that had been in its covered garage for about 40 years.

Is it perfect?  Nope.

Is it original?  Pretty much, with a BN2 engine.

Does it run?  Are you kidding me?

But here’s the good news… We’ll find out on March 4 th at the GGAHC tech session.
